St
Brelades is generally considered the superior beach on Jersey,
stretching in a semi-circle, which also provides shelter from Atlantic
storms. Also being south facing it is often warmer than most other
beaches, and often its waters are much smoother than the open sea. Like
most Jersey beaches there is a large range from low- to high-water, so
that at high tide the sea almost reaches the promenade, it leaves vast
stretches at low tide
The golden sands, which are in one section
patrolled, make for safe bathing and ideal for children. Running a few feet
above the beach is a walkway, fronted by a variety of shops, selling food and
general goods, hotels (including the 4* l'Horizon) and the Wayside Café (
see video
presentation), serving drinks and also food on its terrace.
There is ample car-parkng except during peak season.
The
Biarritz
Hotel (Christian) is situated up steps off the east end of the bay, with
stunning view from it terrace
At the western end of the Bay is St Brelades
Church and the Fisherman's Chapel
